Lavu is headquartered in downtown Albuquerque, New Mexico, in the beautiful American Southwest. Our headquarters are literally on Route 66, which brings a sense of both history and progress to our surroundings.
Being in Albuquerque gives us a Wild West spirit. We like to think we bring that to what we do: Like our predecessors here, we break the mold. We are pioneers and innovators. We were the very first restaurant point-of-sale system for the iPad in the App Store, and since then, we have grown tremendously to become the largest mobile point-of-sale system for restaurants in the world.
Our growth started with an aha moment. While tech entrepreneurs Andy Lim and Corey Fiala were eating dinner at a restaurant one night, they noticed how frustrated the restaurant owner was with his point-of-sale system. Lim and Fiala realized that existing POS options didn’t meet restaurant needs—and they could build one that would. Andy Lim founded Lavu in 2010, naming the company after his son’s pronunciation of “Lav yu, daddy.”
When Lavu launched, it offered restaurants a totally new POS solution: one you can hold in your hand. Our innovation quickly caught on, and in just a few years, we have expanded into 80+ countries on 6 continents. You can use a Lavu POS everywhere from Slovakia to Mauritius.
Since our founding, we have achieved several milestones:
In 2015, Lavu received a $15 million investment, the largest Series A venture investment in New Mexico state history. Aldrich Capital Partners bestowed the investment, with Aldrich partner Mirza Baig noting that “Lavu is a best-of-breed solution in the mobile POS space,” letting restaurants be completely focused on their unique needs.
In 2016, Lavu announced a partnership with PayPal that would provide establishments with industry-leading rates. Since then, restaurants have saved thousands of dollars in transactional costs.
Also in 2016, Ohad Jehassi was named president of Lavu, bringing with him years of experience in the tech industry. Our workforce doubled in the span of 12 months and continues to grow. (Interested in joining the Lavu team?)

Director of Sales
Steve Brown has been a key Lavu player since day one, having founded the first Lavu resale partners, Zephyr Hardware and Table Talk Technologies. As Director of Sales, Steve is responsible for the inside sales, outbound sales, reseller channel and deployment teams. He also works directly with many Lavu chain and enterprise accounts. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Steve previously worked at Savoy/Brown Food Service Consultants and co-founded CuliQuip, a nationwide food-service equipment supply company. He’s an avid snowboarder, hardcore lacrosse fan, and, above all, a family man.
Ohad Jehassi has over fifteen years of international product-centric general management and marketing experience. He has launched four start-ups and been the CEO or founder of three, leading the rapid growth of digital media, marketplace, and marketing services businesses. Throughout his career, Ohad has focused on technological innovation and entrepreneurship: He has served as Operating Advisor to Aldrich Capital Partners, President of Marketflex, CMO and COO of AnyClip, CMO of Takkle (sold to Sports Illustrated and Alloy Media), and Director and COO of Interactive Marketing at America Online, among other industry-leadership positions. Ohad graduated from Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard Business School. He is a business mentor with Endeavor and serves on the executive committee of the New World Symphony.
Director of Human Resources
Vaadra Martinez has over twenty years of experience in all facets of human resource management. Vaadra is a respected people/program manager and a dedicated community advocate. She was most recently a Diversity and Retention Strategist for Intel Corporation. Vaadra has also held senior roles including Intel’s Intern Program Manager for the United States region, Greater America’s Region Employee Communications Manager, and US HR Benefits Operations Manager. A graduate of the University of New Mexico, Vaadra is deeply committed to community service and building up future generations through equal access to opportunities. She currently serves on the National Hispanic Cultural Center Foundation Board of Trustees and the board of SINC, an Albuquerque-based nonprofit startup incubator that supports social entrepreneurs launching socially minded ventures. Vaadra is a prior chair of the United Way of Central New Mexico’s Hispano Philanthropic Society, and she served two years as the Intel NM Site Campaign Manager for their annual United Way Campaign. In 2015, Vaadra was recognized as a Woman of Influence by Albuquerque Business First and nominated as a Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Woman of the Year for the New Mexico region. The achievement Vaadra is most proud of is that of being mother to five children. She credits her kiddos for teaching her the art of multitasking, keeping her on her toes, and helping her stay grounded in reality.
Director of Product Development
Ricardo Morales serves as Director of Product Development at Lavu, driving innovative and robust customer-oriented software solutions.Ricardo is a seasoned technologist, with over 20 years of experience in increasingly challenging and successful positions in the software industry. Ricardo holds a BS in Computer Engineering from Simon Bolivar University and an MS in Management Information Systems from the University of Central Florida. He thrives in start-up environments and has a passion for solving complex problems. When not working hard in Lavu’s Miami offices, Ricardo enjoys riding his mountain bike, road bike, or motorcycle.
Director of Operations
Prior to joining Lavu, Mateen worked as a Senior Manager with a knowledge services advisory firm where he managed the Big Data and IT Research services group. Before that, he led operations of a leading Legal Process Outsourcing firm. Mateen has an MS in Information Systems from Lawrence Technological University, and a BS in Computer Science & Engineering from J.N.T.U. Hyderabad.
Director of Product Management
Daniel Gaines is the Director of Product Management at Lavu. In his role as Director , Mr. Gaines oversees the design and development of Lavu’s POS platform. He brings to the job more than 25 years of technical and product leadership delivering solutions across multiple industries.
Before joining Lavu, Mr. Gaines has held executive leadership roles in software product development and information management organizations such as CareCloud (VP of Product Management) , Accenture, The Advisory Board Company (Sr. VP of Engineering), Knightsbridge Solutions/HP (CTO –Health and Life Science) , Answerthink (Sr. Director) , and MediQual Systems/Cardinal Health(Director, Product Development).
Mr. Gaines received a Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science with a concentration in Applied Mathematics from Hofstra University in 1985.
Director of Customer Care
Alex Collazos is the Director of Customer Care at Lavu. With more than 20 years of domestic and international customer service experience, Alex has managed large organizations as well as smaller startup operations. His passion for developing talent and challenging his staff to become their best selves, has consistently resulted in exceptional client experiences and high morale.
Alex hails from South Florida, where he has enjoyed mountain biking, road riding and rooting for his favorite Hockey Team, the Florida Panthers. He has also coached Special Olympics and enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Alex looks forward to riding the mountains in his new home in New Mexico as well as becoming a fan of all things the beautiful city of Albuquerque has to offer.
Director of Marketing
Don is the Director of Marketing, responsible for developing and executing the go-to-market strategy for Lavu. He is passionate about gaining deep customer insights to deliver compelling value propositions that drive profitable growth.
Don brings over 20 years of experience in the technology industry leading the development of multiple vertical markets and channels of distribution to accelerate growth at top-tier technology firms such as Hewlett-Packard, NCR, Konica Minolta and ADT. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Feeding South Florida; whose mission is to end hunger in South Florida.

Mirza Baig, the founding partner of Aldrich Capital Partners, joined Lavu in 2015. He is a dedicated investor in technological innovation, having previously been involved in scaling operations and growing sales at numerous tech and healthcare companies.
As a co-founder of Imaging Advantage, Legal Advantage, and Tech Fetch, he built these companies from zero revenues and fewer than 10 employees to well over $100 million in revenues and over 500 employees globally. Previously Mirza held executive positions in investment and financial management at AOL Time Warner. He serves as a board member for the Young President Organization of Northern Virginia, Medicaid of Virginia, and Sorensen Institute for Political Leadership at the University of Virginia. Mirza is an MBA graduate of Harvard Business School; he received his bachelor’s degree from Cornell.
Andy Lim is the co-founder and former CEO of Lavu. He started Lavu in August 2010. Currently he is the founder and CEO of AddMi, a business-networking app. Previously Andy was the founder and CEO of Lim Web Design, a web design agency based in Albuquerque. Andy serves on the Board of the Albuquerque Economic Development Corporation and the Alumni Council Board of Directors of the University of New Mexico. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems from the University of New Mexico.
Corey Fiala is a co-founder and former CTO of Lavu. After starting his career developing content management systems and touch-screen museum kiosks, Corey started a database and web consulting business called Meyerwind. Shortly after, he co-founded Event Rental Systems, a SaaS software for rental companies. He later teamed up with Andy Lim to start Lavu in 2010. Corey currently serves on the Lavu board, and he is also an Event Rental Systems board member. When not working in the software field, Corey enjoys hiking, skiing, and playing guitar and/or drums with his band.
